Contraband Movie Reviews
User reviews on Contraband
I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters because it is silly and way to violent. I do not like films like this one so I guess i am bit biased about it but I think even the fans of action films will find this film to be less than mediocre. The film was very on the surface and I did not feel that there was a real commitment to the material from the director or the lead actor Mark Wahlberg. I feel that Wahlberg has outgrown films like this one and he did not really try very hard in this film and it is very evident. The film was extremely predictable and I did not think it was suspenseful. Overall, I do not think this film is worth the price of the movie ticket.
I thought that the film was alright but I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters. The film felt way too familiar and predictable. I feel like Mark Wahlberg did not put much effort into his character because it was not challenging enough for him and I think he has outgrown films like this one. I think that the film had way too much violence and the story was kind of unoriginal. My friend really liked this film so I guess it depends on your taste and this film was just not my cup of tea. Overall, if you are looking for a lot of action, shooting, violence and tough guys this is a film for you.
Contraband is one of those genre films that could have been really stupid, but somehow, it turns out to be a pretty exciting action film. That doesn't mean it breaks any new ground or that the plot isn't standard issue. But the high level of filmmaking and the actors' committment to the movie take it a step above your standard action film.
Mark Wahlberg plays Chris, a smuggler gone straight until his brother in law runs into trouble with a psycho, played by a very creepy Giovanni Ribisi. Chris is forced back into the game to get his bro out of trouble, and gets together a group of guys, including his former partner, to smuggle $15 million counterfeit out of Panama. This give director Baltasar Kormákur, who actually starred in the original Icelandic film, opportunity to stage some exciting action set pieces.
The acting is solid. Wahlberg doesn't do anything other than be himself, but he's always solid. Ribisi is crazy, and a lot of fun to watch. The rest of the cast conducts themselves admirably. It's a much more exciting film than it should have been, but sometimes, that's all you need.
This is a film a bout a former smuggler who heads to Panama to do some shady business in order to protect his brother-in-law from a drug lord, the film is directed by Baltasar Kormákur and stars Mark Wahlberg, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Beckinsale. I did not really like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. This was just not my kind of movie because it was way too macho and way too violent. I was especially shocked when a very graphic scene involving violence against women and children was playing, it was a bit too much for my taste and I wish I did not have to see it. I bet guys will enjoy watching this film but I did not ave a good time and I think that most women and girls will not like it.
I thought this film was awesome and i recommend seeing it in the theaters. i do have to warn you not to take your girlfriend to see it with you because she will most likely not like it and hate you for making her watch it. The film is very well made and I really liked the story and the main character that is played very well by Mark Wahlberg. It is a great action film that has a really good script and an amazing cast that makes everything even better. The film was a bit predictable in some scenes but that i a minor thing in an overall good experience. I thought that the atmosphere in the film was created masterfully and overall the film left me satisfied and entertained.
