If you like sappy romantic movies like "The Notebook" then this is probably the movie for you. It's based on the novel by the same author of "The Notebook" which is Nicholas Sparks (my English teacher hates him, lol) but then I guess we don't go to the movies to see how faithfully his stories are translated on screen. We go to see cute boys save pretty girls from tough situations.

Zac Efron is convincing in his role, though there are times when the chemistry between him and the lead actress Taylor Schilling just falls flat. It's definitely not like Rachel Evan Wood and Ryan Gosling in "The Notebook" where you just believed everything they said and did. This movie feels like a reheat of a stale dish. All the ingredients are there, but there's not much to savor. I hope this is the last Nicholas Sparks movie in a long time! (I'm sure my English teacher would agree ... :))

This film was ridiculous as I thought it will be and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. I was rolling my eyes throughout the whole film and could not wait to leave the theater. This film is definitely not for guys but the girls will probably eat it up. My girlfriend loved this film and is determined to see it again, I will never understand that. Nothing in this film make sense and it is so melodramatic that it makes me sick. Also, I did not believe any of the characters or their actions, the acting was pretty terrible. Overall, if you are a guy, you should stay away from this film as far as possible.

This was one bad film and i hope that people will not see it and not waste their money and time on it. I realize this film was made for a very specific audience and that audience just wants to see Efron without his shirt off but honestly I do not think it is worth making a whole movie just for that reason. The film is pretty visually and that kept my attention for a while but the rest of the film was just awful, in my opinion. There is absolutely no depth in this film and the story just rolls along with no point or no dramatic truth to it. Overall, I think this film is terrible and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters.

"The Lucky One" is another in the long assembly line of Nicholas Sparks adaptations. If you're looking for melodrama, beautiful sunsets in towns on the water, troubled people looking for love and ridiculous obstacles to said love, you're in the right place. Zac Efron plays Logan, a former soldier back from three tours of duty in Iraq, who finds a picture of a girl during a particularly bloody battle that he believes is his good luck charm. After returning to Colorado, he and his dog walk (yep, they WALK) to Louisiana, in search of the girl, a single mother who runs a kennel with her feisty grandma (played by Blythe Danner, the only person who can really be called an actor in this film). Instead of just telling this girl about the picture, Logan gets a job as a handy man so he can be close to her and they can fall in love and he can reveal his big secret at the end so there is drama. It all has a very manufactured feel to it. There are no real emotions here, which certainly isn't helped by two leads who have nothing going on under the surface. They can say their lines just fine, but unlike "The Notebook", which was just as schmaltzy but had two very good actors as leads, Efron and Taylor Schilling look like people who were cast in a perfume ad but accidentally stumbled onto the set of a movie. You know what you're getting into when you see this, so if you're surprised by how cheesy this is, that's your problem.

I thought this film was pretty good but I do not think it is worth seeing in the theaters because i do not think it is worth the price of the movie ticket. My boyfriend of course hated every second of this film but I guess this movie was not made for the male audience. If you like Nicholas Spark’s films then you will most likely like this one but you should know that is does not even come close to Notebook. The film is kind of slow and the emotions do not seem real or genuine and I think it is mostly due to pretty bad acting. Overall, the film is not worth your money but I think you will enjoy watching it at home.
