Ong Bak 3 Movie Reviews

I did not like this movie at all. Before starting this review, I have to say that I do not like these type of movies (martial arts) and I am biased. In the same time this movie was supposed to be full of action and fighting scenes, but all I saw was complete chaos and most of the movie did not make sense at all. I tried my hardest to understand what exactly was going on in the film and I was not able to do that. First of all, there was too much going on, and second of all there were not nearly enough fighting scenes. I do have to admit that cinematography of the film was absolutely beautiful and the way the camera moved through some of the scenes was great. I could tell that the director is a sucker for beautiful pictures and he did a great job with that. He created many scenes that were beautiful to watch but were not cohesive. in my opinion, the movie did not have a heart and it was hard to relate to the characters. Overall, I do not recommend seeing it if you are not a fan of martial arts movies and ,in my opinion, even if you are, you will be disappointed.
Ong Bak 3 was a hot mess. There was so much going on in this movie that it was hard to catch up and get my head around it. There was dancing, dreaming, elephants, crows, magic and so on. I was so freaking confused that it made me dizzy. The worst part is that there was not enough action in the film and I really missed the ass kicking part of the movie. Basically instead of fighting scenes I got dancing scenes. Really?! I was very disappointed by the film and I wish the director went back to the origins of this film, which is action and awesome fighting scenes with lots and lots of punching and ass kicking. I was also wondering if anybody can explain Jaa’s ability to toss lightning bolts from the sky? Overall, the movie completely sucked and I was very disappointed with it. Ido not recommend seeing and if you still decide to see it, the joke is on you.
Before I start this review, I have to preface it with saying that I am a huge martial arts movie lover. It began when I saw Drunken Master (the original one) starring Jackie Chan for the first time. Since then I have always loved Kung Fu movies and any other types of martial arts films. Ong Bak 3 did not disappoint. It is just as action packed and martial arts-filled as the previous 2 films. I wouldn’t say this movie appeals to everyone since I would say the majority of movie-goers aren’t kung fu fans. The movie was great though, I very much enjoyed it. All of the Ong Bak films are filmed in a very weird way that is unlike other martial arts films but add a sense of fantasy to the movie. The story picked up right where Ong Bak 2 left off. All three of the movies seem like one long story, which I am not complaining about because I actually like it. The fluidity of the stories remind me of Lord of the Rings, but obviously they are not on the same quality level as those films. Overall I would recommend seeing this film if you are at all into martial arts films.
