The legendary Diana Vreeland was a force in America’s history of fashion and style. In DIANA VREELAND: THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL, the story of Vreeland’s rich life is told through fantastic archival footage, early 1980’s recordings of her conversation with the author of her memoirs, and interviews with those who knew her best. Vreeland first began at Harpers Bazaar writing a column called “Why Don’t You…”, and quickly became fashion editor of the magazine in 1936. While at Harpers Bazaar she published photographs of the “first bikini”, popularized blue jeans and discovered the model (who later became the great actress), Lauren Bacall. She went on to become editor-in-chief of Vogue in the 1960s, just as the counterculture made its way into the US. Her creativity, imagination and original point of view took the magazine to an entirely new level and audience.
